Mile 8146:
We left Phoenix this morning and arrived in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Just east of Phoenix, we hit the remnants of the Pacific hurricane Simon. We travelled through the desert in the pouring rain for 2 hours--until we got to the other side of Tucson, AZ. At Tucson, we stopped by and visited for a little while with the Normans, friends from home who moved there in January. They told us it NEVER rains in Tucson! The rest of the day was driving, driving, driving until we got here. Staying the night in the Big Chile Inn!
